4th National Caucas meeting of GJP re-elects Regenvanu as President and Tanna MP Hon Andrew Napuat as Vice President of Party

Last week, on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th January, the Graon mo Jastis Pati (GJP) held its fourth annual National Caucus meeting in Luganville.

The GJP Constitution requires that a National Caucus of all elected officials of the party is held each year to bring together all MP’s and Councillors of the party, as well as their respective Chairmen, to share experiences and contribute advice and guidance to assist the management and growth of the party.

The 2016 meeting was scheduled to be held in December last year but was postponed due to the sitting of Parliament which lasted almost until Christmas.

The meeting was attended by the 6 GJP Members of Parliament plus most of the 17 GJP Councillors currently serving on the Provincial Governments of Sanma, Penama, Malampa, Shefa and Tafea as well as the Municipal Councils of Luganville and Port Vila.

The GJP Councillors holding the positions of the Presidents of Malampa and Sanma Province were in attendance.

The meeting endorsed the names of the candidates who will be contesting the forthcoming provincial elections in Tafea, Shefa, Malampa and Penama.

At this meeting also, GJP began the process of electing for the first time the President and Vice-President of the party.

Ralph Regenvanu was elected as party President for another four years while Tanna MP Andrew Napuat was elected as the first Vice-President of the party, a decision which this week has been confirmed by the National Executive.

The next Elected Officials meeting is scheduled to be held on Malekula in January next year.
